About Mgr. Rastislav Macko
I am a freelance chemical safety consultant based in the Czech Republic, offering expert services in the areas of Safety Data Sheets (SDS), chemical audits, and hazardous substance training. My work combines academic precision with hands-on industrial safety experience, helping companies maintain compliance and protect their workforce.
Academic Background
I hold a Master’s degree (Mgr.) in Physical Chemistry from Pavol Jozef Šafárik University in Košice, Slovakia, where I focused my thesis on biodegradable metals and surface modifications. This academic foundation sharpened my understanding of material behavior, safety, and chemical interactions at a fundamental level.
Industrial Experience
I have worked with international industrial leaders, including:
- Onsemi (Rožnov pod Radhoštěm, CZ) – as a Materials Science Engineer and R&D specialist, where I handled:
- Safety documentation for hazardous chemicals
- Risk and hazard analysis (FMEA, SDS, MSDS, chemical audits)
- Process improvement and training across three production lines: silicon epitaxy, silicon carbide epitaxy, and PVT crystal growth
- U.S. Steel (Košice, SK) – during my research internship, I improved corrosion testing methods by integrating electrochemical analysis with standard chamber tests, now used for automotive and food-grade steel evaluation
Patents & Innovation
I hold two patents in the field of corrosion resistance and process optimization, and continue to contribute to R&D in safe material handling and system monitoring.
Safety Focus
My expertise includes:
- Authoring and updating SDS in English, Slovak, and Czech
- Training staff in safe chemical handling and PPE use
- Performing in-depth audits of workplace safety and hazardous substance management
- Ensuring compliance with REACH, CLP, and EU directives
Languages & Clients
I offer services in Czech, Slovak, and English, making me a trusted partner for international clients operating within Central Europe. My goal is to make safety documentation clear, accessible, and aligned with both legal standards and real-world industrial conditions.
